Morning news: How will Ho Chi Minh City manage food safety across more than 400 traditional markets?

Vietnam’s five-day National Day holiday produced strong tourism figures in several localities, with Ho Chi Minh City reporting more than 1.65 million domestic visitors and an estimated 62,000 international visitors.

Tourism accommodation providers in the city served about 182,500 guests, including roughly 178,000 domestic visitors and 4,500 international visitors. Average room occupancy was estimated at 61 percent, while total tourism revenue reached about 4.9 trillion dong.

Quang Ninh reported 568,000 visitors and estimated revenue of 1.8 trillion dong. Ha Long Bay received about 44,200 visitors, including an estimated 19,138 international tourists. Other busy attractions included Sun World Ha Long, Quang Ninh Museum, Yen Tu and Ba Vang Pagoda. Quang Ninh City alone welcomed about 155,000 visitors on Aug. 30.

Tuyen Quang attracted 168,000 tourists, including 156,000 domestic visitors, a 50 percent increase from the same period in 2025, and nearly 12,000 international visitors. Total visitor spending was estimated at 443.5 billion dong, including about 54 billion dong from international tourists and more than 389 billion dong from domestic travelers.

The National Assembly Standing Committee also opened its sixth session on Sept. 3. The session will take place in two stages, from Sept. 3 to 4 and from Sept. 21 to the morning of Sept. 25. Chairman Tran Thanh Man will deliver the opening remarks. The committee is scheduled to review amendments concerning securities, accounting, independent auditing, children, people with disabilities, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, population policy, food safety, environmental protection and electricity. It will also consider a draft resolution on the 2027 legislative program.
