Morocco Celebrates Africa Day in Cameroon

Morocco's embassy in Cameroon marked Africa Day with a vibrant cultural showcase, celebrating the 63rd anniversary of the African Union's establishment. The event, held under the theme "Let's celebrate 63 years of unity, integration, and development together," brought together Cameroonian officials, civil society representatives, and international organizations.

Cameroon's Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, focused his remarks on the critical issue of water resources in Africa, emphasizing the strategic importance of this resource and the need to address its scarcity in many regions. He commended the African Union's efforts in raising awareness and establishing mechanisms for rational water use and protection against climate change impacts.

The African Union's representative highlighted the demographic and economic weight of African nations, advocating for reforms within the United Nations to ensure Africa secures its rightful place on the global stage. Morocco's participation underscored its commitment to pan-Africanism, featuring a cultural pavilion that displayed Moroccan art, traditional crafts, and authentic cuisine, symbolizing its renowned hospitality.

This engagement served to reinforce Morocco's identity as an African player actively contributing to the continent's development, aligning with King Mohammed VI's vision of Africa as a strategic depth and a space for successful partnership. The event also provided a platform to discuss Morocco's advancements in port infrastructure, air connectivity, and its role in facilitating trade for landlocked African nations through its Atlantic initiative, alongside its contributions to training, scientific research, peace, and security in Africa.
