Morocco trains election officials ahead of legislative polls

Moroccan authorities have initiated training courses and practical exercises for public sector employees, notably teachers, in preparation for the upcoming legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026. These preparatory measures aim to ensure the effective organization and management of the electoral process.

The training sessions, which began approximately a week ago, are designed to familiarize participants with the legal, logistical, and technical requirements for managing polling stations, overseeing vote counting, and handling all procedures on election day. A spokesperson from the Union of Public Sector Employees, affiliated with the Moroccan Union of Labor, confirmed that organizational bodies, primarily from the Ministry of Interior, are relying heavily on personnel from the education sector. This decision is based on their extensive experience and proven track record in managing major national events, particularly elections, making them a crucial asset for staffing thousands of polling stations across the country.
