Moscow dismisses drone incident as 'provocation' by Kyiv

Russia's embassy in Berlin has vehemently denied involvement in a drone incident at Leipzig/Halle airport, labeling it a "provocation" orchestrated by Kyiv and the "militaristic wing of the European political class." The embassy stated on Telegram that the incident is designed to ignite a "new wave of anti-Russian hysteria in Germany" and to justify continued financial aid to Ukraine.

According to the Russian diplomatic mission, Ukraine needs arguments to ensure "unlimited financial resources continue to flow into the hands of a corrupt regime." The embassy believes that Ukraine is behind the "hybrid attack" due to its lack of weaponry. It also criticized the portrayal of the event as a hybrid attack, asserting that no evidence has been provided to support such claims.

The Russian statement also accused certain politicians of advocating for war against Russia and urging German citizens to participate. The embassy suggested that the greatest danger to Germany does not stem from nonexistent "hybrid attacks" by Moscow, but from politicians actively preparing for war scenarios against Russia. The incident involved a drone equipped with explosives found near Ukrainian transport aircraft, which was reportedly brought down by an employee. A subsequent aircraft collision with an unidentified flying object was also mentioned.
