Most Croatian stores to close for Corpus Christi holiday; shoppers urged to plan ahead

The upcoming public holiday, Corpus Christi, will see the vast majority of retail stores across Croatia remain closed, marking a shift from previous years when some shops operated with reduced hours. Citizens are strongly advised to complete their shopping before the holiday or postpone it until the following day to avoid inconvenience.

Major retail chains have confirmed their closures. Konzum has explicitly informed customers to plan their shopping ahead, as their stores will be shut on Corpus Christi. Kaufland, Lidl, and Plodine have issued similar announcements, indicating that their branches nationwide will be closed. The Tommy chain has also joined this trend, covering a significant portion of the market.

KTC, a retail chain that has consistently adhered to a policy of not operating on Sundays and public holidays since 2020, will continue its practice. While smaller chains like Studenac are expected to be closed, and some smaller chains like Ribola might have select outlets open, customers are urged to verify the operating hours for specific locations. SPAR and INTERSPAR stores will largely be closed, though some individual locations may follow Sunday or special holiday schedules.

Shopping centers in major cities will also be affected. In Zagreb, Arena Centar, Avenue Mall, both City Center one locations, King Cross Jankomir, Point Shopping Center, and Z Centar will be entirely closed. Similarly, in Split, Mall of Split, City Center one Split, and Joker will shut their doors. In Rijeka, Tower Center Rijeka and ZTC Rijeka will be closed, while in Osijek, Mall Osijek and Portanova will also be inaccessible. This closure extends to most shops within these centers, though it's advisable to check if cinemas or restaurants within the centers will operate. Leading drugstores, including Bipa and dm, have also announced closures, with dm advising customers to check their official websites for specific location information. Müller's operating hours also vary, necessitating a check for each store.
