Mostafa Kamel receives support from singer Mostafa Amar amid artistic criticism

Egyptian singer Mostafa Amar has publicly thrown his support behind Mostafa Kamel, the current head of the Musicians' Syndicate, in a dispute involving art critic Tarek El-Shenawy. Amar's message, posted on his official Instagram account, criticizes what he describes as El-Shenawy's "crossing the boundaries of artistic criticism."

Amar stated, "I join my voice with all my colleagues in the Musicians' Syndicate, and no to the insult of the head of the Musicians' Syndicate under the guise of criticism." He accused El-Shenawy of "trying hard to criticize Egyptian art icons" with the aim of "staying under the media umbrella at all times."

Addressing El-Shenawy directly, Amar questioned his qualifications, suggesting that if El-Shenawy was unaware of Kamel's influential artistic career, it represented "dangerous media ignorance." If he was aware, Amar implied, it was a "worse excuse than a sin."

"I wish to see you write a scene, succeed with a novel, or write poetry or song lyrics, or anything else... because you speak as if you know all the keys to success, and you have not achieved success in your original profession, which requires extensive study of directing, lighting, cinematography, decor, and costumes," Amar added.

Amar concluded his message by asserting, "He who lacks something cannot give it." He urged El-Shenawy to "stay away from what you do not understand and do not know, because music requires years of study and learning from you to be able to just state a point of view, not criticism, or even insults or slander."
