Mostaganem Hosts International Wado-Ryu Karate Seminar

Mostaganem, Algeria, recently hosted a significant international technical seminar for Wado-Ryu karate, a testament to the growing interest and development of this martial art within Algeria. Organized by the provincial directorate of youth and sports in collaboration with the Algerian Karate-do Federation and the national Wado-Ryu commission, the event underscored the nation's commitment to fostering martial arts excellence.

The seminar, held at the Charef Khattab multi-purpose hall, attracted participants from 19 different wilayas, highlighting the widespread reach and enthusiasm for Wado-Ryu across the country. The presence of renowned Italian experts, Sandro Angiolini (8th dan) and Stefano Puggioni (7th dan), lent considerable prestige to the event, offering Algerian practitioners invaluable insights and high-level demonstrations.

The main objective was to correct and perfect basic and advanced techniques (kata and kumite), improve the physical and mental capacities of practitioners, as well as deepen their understanding of the philosophy of karate-do.

Emphasis was placed on the core tenets of Wado-Ryu, including essential self-defense techniques and the critical importance of evasion, a hallmark of this style. The curriculum focused on refining both basic and advanced techniques in kata and kumite, aiming to enhance the physical and mental capabilities of athletes, coaches, and referees. This dedication to technical improvement and philosophical understanding reflects Algeria's ambition to elevate the standard of karate-do within its borders and cultivate new generations of skilled martial artists.
