Motagua Aims to Consolidate Leadership in Central American Cup Against FAS

Honduran club Motagua is set to host El Salvador's FAS on Thursday, aiming to strengthen its leading position in Group D of the CONCACAF Central American Cup. This match marks the debut for FAS in the regional tournament, and they are under pressure to secure their first points.

Motagua, coached by Spaniard Javier López, enters the game with momentum after a commanding 5-0 win against Verdes of Belize. This victory placed them at the top of Group D, which also includes Cartaginés of Costa Rica and Municipal of Guatemala. This marks Motagua's fourth consecutive appearance in the Copa Centroamericana, having previously reached the quarterfinals in each of their three prior participations.

The team, known as 'Las Águilas,' is determined to advance beyond the quarterfinals for the first time in the club's history. Their opponent, FAS, managed by Mexican Adrián Sánchez, faces a challenging start.
