Mother Filmed Beating Daughter in Constanța Identified; Children Placed with Grandmother

Police in Constanța, Romania, have identified a 43-year-old mother who was filmed aggressively hitting her 8-year-old daughter on a street. The incident, which occurred on July 5 in the Tomis III neighborhood, sparked public outrage after a passerby recorded the woman shoving and pulling her daughter's hair while bystanders intervened.

The mother, who stated she was raising her children alone and was overwhelmed, argued with witnesses. One bystander threatened to call the police, while another indicated they would report the incident to child protective services. The video captured the mother's exasperated response, telling a witness, "Take her and raise her!" and questioning if they expected her to raise children with "gentleness."

Following the video's circulation, police initiated a criminal investigation for domestic violence. The mother and her children were taken to the police station, where child protection services and the paternal grandmother were also present. An assessment of the child revealed no immediate danger or visible injuries, but authorities decided to temporarily place all the children with their paternal grandmother to ensure their protection while the investigation proceeds. The mother is now facing charges related to domestic violence.
