Motorcyclist critically injured after collision with SUV in Taichung intersection

A severe traffic accident in Taichung, Taiwan, has left a 36-year-old motorcyclist in critical condition after a collision with an SUV.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Xinpu Road and Xinguang Road in the Taiping District on the afternoon of June 26. The motorcyclist, identified by the surname Cai, had stopped at the intersection and checked for traffic before proceeding. After two cars passed, Cai began to move forward but was struck by a black SUV in the middle of the intersection.

The impact was forceful, sending Cai and his motorcycle flying. Debris, including the helmet and motorcycle parts, scattered across the road, creating a shocking scene. Bystanders immediately called for emergency services.

Cai was rushed to the hospital and is currently fighting for his life. The 57-year-old driver of the SUV, identified by the surname Lin, was unharmed. Both drivers tested negative for alcohol and drugs. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage to determine the exact cause of the accident.
