Motorists, residents urge Abiodun to complete Mowe-Ofada road

Motorists, commuters, and residents are calling on Governor Dapo Abiodun to expedite the completion of the Mowe-Ofada road's second section. The ongoing work on this stretch has become a major source of concern, leading to prolonged delays, frequent vehicle breakdowns, and higher transportation costs for those living and working in the area.

While acknowledging the reconstruction of the first section, users of the road are urging the government to extend the project to the remaining stretch. A commercial driver, Mr. Johnson Fadeyi, noted that the road's poor condition has reduced his daily trips and increased maintenance expenses. "We face serious problems on this section of the road especially when it rains. I want to appeal to the state governor to urgently find a lasting solution to the road," he said.

Commuters like Mrs. Bimpe Olaitan described the road's state as subjecting passengers to unnecessary hardship, particularly during peak hours and the rainy season. Transporter Kadiri Bala highlighted how the damaged section impedes the movement of goods and services, negatively impacting businesses in Mowe, Ofada, and surrounding communities. Bala appealed for the project to be prioritized, stating that its completion would stimulate economic activities and enhance connectivity.

Pastor Sunday Famuyiwa, a resident, requested intensified palliative measures on the damaged portions while awaiting full reconstruction. He expressed confidence in the administration's commitment to infrastructure development but stressed the need for swift action. "Timely completion of the second section will enhance transportation, promote economic growth and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents using the corridor daily," Famuyiwa added.
