MOUAU VC orders refund of NELFUND fees to eligible students

The Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Prof. Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, has mandated the immediate refund of school fees for students who have benefited from the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme. This directive was issued during the inauguration of the new Students’ Union Government (SUG).

The university's Bursar has been instructed to initiate the refund process for all eligible students. Prof. Akanwa explained that the decision ensures students who paid their fees prior to receiving the NELFUND loan still benefit from the government's education financing initiative. This move aims to alleviate financial burdens and ensure equitable access to educational support.

The decision was aimed at ensuring that students who paid their fees before receiving the NELFUND loan were not denied the benefits of the government’s education financing initiative.

Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor urged students to complete their course registrations promptly for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic session. She emphasized that early registration is crucial for the university to commence academic activities on schedule. Prof. Akanwa also called upon the newly inaugurated SUG executives to exhibit responsible, inclusive, and purposeful leadership. She encouraged them to collaborate with the university management to foster peace, enhance student welfare, and promote a conducive learning environment.
