MRT Corp appoints Wan Ahmad Dahlan as Chairman

Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MRT Corp) has announced the appointment of Tan Sri Dr. Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz as its new chairman. The appointment, effective August 13, comes as MRT Corp enters a critical phase in its mission to develop the nation's rail infrastructure and urban development.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan, who also serves as the Director-General of Public Services, brings over three decades of experience in the public service sector. MRT Corp's Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd. Zarif Hashim, stated that Wan Ahmad Dahlan's extensive background in public administration, governance, and institutional leadership will be a significant asset to the company. "His experience will assist MRT Corp in implementing key national infrastructure projects and strengthen its role in advancing the country's mobility and urban development agenda," Zarif Hashim said in a statement.

MRT Corp is currently spearheading several major infrastructure projects, including the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link and the Penang Light Rail Transit (LRT) Mutiara Line. The company is also focused on strengthening transit-oriented development (TOD), integrated property development, and commercial revenue generation.

Zarif Hashim further noted that Wan Ahmad Dahlan's expertise in institutional management and policy implementation will enhance MRT Corp's execution capabilities. "His expertise will help MRT Corp strengthen its execution capabilities and fulfill its mandate as a catalyst for urban sustainability and public mobility," he added.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan began his career in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service (PTD) in 1995. His previous roles include Director-General of the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) in the Prime Minister's Department, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Royal Household Manager at Istana Negara. He has also served as Chairman of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia and Razak School of Government, and has been a board member for Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (MRL), the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP), and the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN).
