Multiple Forest Fires Rage Across Greece Amid Severe Season

Greece is currently grappling with a series of significant forest fires erupting across the country. Blazes have been reported in the Volos region, the Mandra Eidillias area within the Attica Region, and on Salamina Island.

According to Greek media reports, fires broke out in the Profiti Ilias area of Salamina Island and in forested zones near Mandra in Attica, which encompasses the capital city of Athens. Simultaneously, forest fires ignited in the Aivaliotika and Soros regions of Volos. Firefighting teams are actively engaged in both ground and aerial operations to contain these fires.

These incidents follow a particularly intense day for the Hellenic Fire Service, which announced on the previous day that 41 forest and agricultural land fires had been registered within a 24-hour period. Earlier on the current day, fires also occurred in forested areas on the island of Corfu, in Komito Karisto on the island of Evia, and near the village of Kumarlı in the Evros region.

The widespread fires underscore the severity of the current fire season in Greece, posing a significant challenge to emergency services and local communities.
