Murder Charge Laid in Halifax Area Shooting Death

Halifax police have arrested a 29-year-old man and charged him with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jayden Tynes. Tynes, 28, was found with gunshot wounds in North Preston on November 2, 2025, and later died from his injuries.

The arrest marks a significant development in the investigation into the killing, which occurred near the intersection of Cain Street and Clarence Street. The accused, from Cole Harbour, was taken into custody on Wednesday and was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Thursday.

Authorities stated that the investigation remains active. A reward of $150,000 is available for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.

Sgt. Shawn Stanton of the RCMP and Halifax Regional Police integrated homicide unit commented on the arrest. "This arrest marks a significant step in our investigation and we hope it brings some measure of comfort to Jayden’s family, who have endured an unimaginable loss," Stanton said in a statement.
