Mystras: Man who kept father's body in freezer says 'my behavior was wrong'

A man in Mystras, Greece, faces scrutiny for allegedly storing his deceased father's body in a freezer for at least two and a half years. The 55-year-old claims his actions were driven by grief and an inability to accept his father's death, not financial gain.

Speaking for the first time, the man expressed remorse, stating, "Day by day I realize how wrong my behavior was. My motives were not financial. I built the guesthouse in Mystras with my own hands. I had no need. I should have given my father a proper burial, as I did for my mother. When I lost my father, I was devastated. I had no one else close in my life. I loved them pathologically and could not accept my father's death."

His lawyer indicated that the man was already receiving medical treatment, citing existing prescriptions. "There are medical opinions, there are prescriptions. He was receiving pharmaceutical help. Perhaps it was not enough," the lawyer said, adding that the man would seek further help.
