N’East Leaders Visit Tinubu, Vow to Deliver Zone to APC in 2027

Political leaders from Nigeria's North-East geo-political zone have formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid for 2027, vowing to mobilize grassroots support across the region. The delegation, comprising governors, elder statesmen, ministers, lawmakers, and traditional rulers, met with President Tinubu in Abuja.

We are here for one overriding purpose, to show our appreciation and thank you most profoundly for the re-nomination of an accomplished son of our region, His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, as your vice-presidential running mate in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.

Led by Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, the group expressed appreciation for Tinubu's decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate. They view this choice as a demonstration of confidence in the North-East and a recognition of loyalty and competence.

Governor Zulum, speaking on behalf of the delegation, described the visit as one of "appreciation and renewed political commitment." He stated that Tinubu's selection of Shettima, an "accomplished son of our region," highlights the President's qualities as a leader who recognizes and rewards loyalty, competence, and commitment. Zulum also noted that while the party's zoning arrangement allowed for a running mate from any northern zone, Tinubu's choice to retain Shettima strengthened the North-East's confidence in his administration.

The leaders also lauded the Tinubu government's interventions in the region, citing ongoing infrastructure projects like the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri Expressway, as well as investments in agriculture, education, youth empowerment, and the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs). They believe these efforts are beginning to transform the region after years of insurgency and underdevelopment.
