NAFDAC, police partner to enforce sachet alcohol ban in Ogun

Nigeria's National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is strengthening its collaboration with the Ogun State Police Command to enforce the ban on sachet alcohol. This renewed partnership focuses on curbing the production, distribution, and sale of alcoholic beverages in small sachets and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles across the state.

The move is primarily aimed at safeguarding public health, particularly among vulnerable populations, including youth, who are often targeted by these smaller, more accessible packaging formats. NAFDAC has previously expressed concerns about the health risks associated with excessive consumption of alcohol sold in such quantities.

By joining forces, NAFDAC and the police intend to conduct more rigorous enforcement operations, inspect premises, and confiscate illegal products. The agencies are committed to ensuring compliance with existing regulations and protecting citizens from the potential dangers of unregulated or excessively consumed alcoholic beverages.
