Nam Hyun-ji and Baek On-yu Win Shin Dong-yup Literary Award

The 44th Shin Dong-yup Literary Award has been presented to poet Nam Hyun-ji, 49, and novelist Baek On-yu, 33. Nam received the award for her poetry collection "My Healthy Life That the Whole Universe Desires" (Changbi, 2024), while Baek was recognized for her novel collection "Generation of Promise" (Munhakdongne, 2026).

In the critique category, critic Kwon Young-bin, 42, was honored for his work "Geography of the Mind Towards a Post-Korea-Japan Narrative" (2025). The award includes prize money of 20 million won for both poetry and fiction, and 7 million won for critique. Notably, all three recipients first gained recognition through literary awards organized by Changbi for new writers.

The Shin Dong-yup Literary Award, jointly established by the poet's family and publisher Changbi to commemorate poet Shin Dong-yup (1930-1969), considers works from the past two years by authors who have been writing for 10 years or less, or equivalent. The award ceremony is scheduled for late November.
