Nasarawa gov sacks six commissioners

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has initiated a minor cabinet reshuffle, relieving six commissioners of their appointments. The decision, announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Labaran Magaji, after a State Executive Council meeting, aims to strengthen the administration and introduce fresh perspectives.

The affected commissioners were those overseeing the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security and Sundry Matters. Magaji explained that the commissioners were asked to step aside to allow for new ideas and to bolster governance during the remaining period of the administration. He emphasized that the decision was not a reflection of poor performance, acknowledging the former commissioners' commitment and hard work.

"The adjustment is intended to rejig the system, inject fresh energy into the administration and ensure that the mandate given to Gov. Abdullahi Sule is fully delivered within the remaining period of this administration," Magaji stated. He added that the former commissioners might be considered for other assignments in the future, and the names of their replacements would be announced through appropriate channels.

In addition to the cabinet changes, the State Executive Council extensively deliberated on strategies to boost the state's revenue. This discussion was prompted by the recent inauguration of one of Africa's largest lithium processing plants in Nasarawa, attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima. The government is developing measures to maximize the economic benefits derived from the growing lithium processing industry within the state.
