Taiwanese actor Wang Kai, widely celebrated as the "National Boyfriend" for his handsome looks, has died at the age of 43. The actor, whose real name was Wang Jian-long, was found unresponsive in his rented apartment in Taipei's Daan District on July 26. The news has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry.

Neighbors alerted authorities after noticing that food delivery left at his doorstep had not been collected for over six hours. Upon entering the residence, police discovered Wang Kai lying in the living room, showing no signs of life. An initial investigation by the police has ruled out homicide or suicide, and a forensic examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death and any potential underlying medical conditions.

In recent years, Wang Kai had faced significant personal challenges. In early 2024, he underwent surgery for a minor thumb injury that led to cellulitis. At the age of 40, he experienced the death of his father, the passing of his beloved cat, and a severe emotional setback, which led him to seek counseling for 18 months. He had previously admitted to "not expecting happiness."

Seeking to recharge, he returned to Kaohsiung to be with his mother before taking on the role in "Life of a Hundred Flavors." This comeback performance, intended to mark his return to the screen, tragically became his final role, leaving fans and colleagues heartbroken and deeply saddened.
