National Zakat Agency provides food, health services, and scholarships at NU Congress

The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI is actively contributing to the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress held at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas in Jombang, East Java. Their support encompasses a range of services designed to benefit both congress participants and the local community.

Baznas RI, in collaboration with its provincial and district branches in East Java and Jombang, is providing essential services. These include catering, health support, waste management, and educational programs specifically for santri (students at Islamic boarding schools).

As a state institution, Baznas is open to synergizing with various Islamic community organizations in activities that provide benefits to the community. In this NU Congress, we are present with various services that can be directly felt by participants and the community.

Sodik Mudjahid, Chairman of Baznas RI, emphasized the agency's role as a state institution committed to synergy with Islamic organizations. "As a state institution, Baznas is open to synergizing with various Islamic community organizations in activities that provide benefits to the community," he stated. "In this NU Congress, we are present with various services that can be directly felt by participants and the community."

We want mustahik not only to be beneficiaries but also to participate. Therefore, the provision of ZChicken in this activity involves Baznas-assisted mustahik, from production to distribution.

In terms of food services, Baznas is distributing 15,000 ZChicken food packages through its "Food Bank" program. Notably, this initiative involves beneficiaries of Baznas's programs in the production and distribution process. "We want mustahik (recipients of zakat) not only to be beneficiaries but also to participate," Sodik explained. "Therefore, the provision of ZChicken in this activity involves Baznas-assisted mustahik, from production to distribution."

Furthermore, Baznas is operating six health service posts through its "Rumah Sehat Baznas" (Baznas Healthy House) initiative. These posts are staffed by medical teams, supported by four ambulances and one mobile clinic. They are also providing 3,200 packages of aromatherapy essential oil and vitamins to those in need, ensuring prompt medical attention for participants requiring examinations, treatment, or emergency response.
