Nationwide Storm Alert Issued for Paraguay

Paraguay's Directorate of Meteorology issued a nationwide storm alert for the afternoon of May 29, 2026. The forecast predicts intense rainfall accompanied by moderate to strong thunderstorms, strong wind gusts, and a high likelihood of hail. This alert is due to an ongoing storm system affecting the region.

The severe weather is expected to impact the entire Oriental region, as well as central and southern parts of the Occidental region. Specific departments under the alert include Asunción, Concepción, San Pedro, Cordillera, Guairá, Caaguazú, Caazapá, eastern Itapúa, Paraguarí, Alto Paraná, Central, northern Ñeembucú, southern Amambay, central, southern, and western Canindeyú, Presidente Hayes, southwestern Alto Paraguay, and eastern Boquerón.

The Directorate of Meteorology warned of a high probability of localized severe weather phenomena occurring throughout the afternoon. Residents in the affected areas are advised to prepare for potentially dangerous conditions.
