Navone, Tirante, Landaluce, and Bucsa advance at Cincinnati Masters

Several Latin American and Spanish players have successfully navigated the first round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 tennis tournament. Argentinians Mariano Navone and Thiago Agustín Tirante, alongside Spaniards Martín Landaluce and Cristina Bucsa, have all secured spots in the second round.

Mariano Navone, currently ranked world No. 44, defeated Belgium's Raphael Collignon (world No. 38) in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6(3). He is set to face another Belgian, Alexander Blockx (world No. 32), in the next round.

Navone's compatriot, Thiago Agustín Tirante (world No. 65), had a more epic battle, ultimately triumphing over Britain's Jan Choinski (world No. 77) with a score of 7-6(9), 6-7(7), 7-6(3) after a grueling 2-hour and 56-minute match. Tirante's next opponent will be Serbian star Novak Djokovic (world No. 5).

In the men's singles, Spain's Martín Landaluce (world No. 64) also advanced, defeating Britain's Jack Draper (world No. 143) 6-3, 7-5. He is scheduled to play Italy's Matteo Arnaldi (world No. 35). On the women's side, Spain's Cristina Bucsa (world No. 40) won her first match since March, beating Hungary's Panna Udvardy (world No. 76) 6-2, 1-6, 7-5. Bucsa will now face Poland's Maja Chwalinska (world No. 22).

However, not all Latin American players were successful. Argentinians Román Andrés Burruchaga (world No. 56) and Camilo Ugo Carabelli (world No. 76), as well as Colombia's Camila Osorio (world No. 60), were eliminated in the first round. Osorio lost to American Taylor Townsend (world No. 110), Burruchaga fell to Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff (world No. 41), and Carabelli was defeated by Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic (world No. 62).
