Navy reinforces Mazatlán security with 1,700 personnel; seizes weapons, drugs, and stolen vehicle

The Mexican Navy has significantly bolstered security in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, deploying 1,700 personnel as part of "Operation Sable." This initiative aims to combat crime and has already led to several successful seizures and arrests.

Naval forces responded to a report of armed individuals near the Real del Valle neighborhood, leading to the apprehension of three suspects. During the operation, authorities confiscated a handgun with its magazine and 15 cartridges. Additionally, a substantial amount of illicit substances was seized, including 2,190 doses of methamphetamine, 2,145 doses of cocaine, and 90 doses of marijuana.

Further enhancing the operation's impact, naval personnel discovered an abandoned vehicle during a patrol in the El Roble area. Upon inspection, the vehicle, which was reported stolen, yielded 40 cartridges and eight magazines. The arrested individuals were read their rights and handed over to the competent authorities, along with all seized items, to facilitate the ongoing investigation.

The "Operation Sable" underscores the Navy's commitment to maintaining public safety in Mazatlán, a popular tourist destination. The increased presence and proactive measures are designed to deter criminal activity and reassure residents and visitors alike.
