NCDMB opens 10th national undergraduate essay competition

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is offering a significant opportunity for young Nigerians aspiring to contribute to the nation's energy sector through its 10th Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition. The board announced that entries for this prestigious event will open on August 15, inviting undergraduate students from universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to share their insights.

This year's theme, "Promoting Manufacturing for Sustainable Local Content Development," prompts students to explore how Nigeria can bolster its local manufacturing capabilities. The goal is to drive economic growth and reduce reliance on imports, particularly within the energy industry. The competition seeks practical ideas that can support the country's industrialization efforts and foster sustainable development.

Beyond the chance to win prizes, the essay competition serves as a vital platform for cultivating critical thinking, research abilities, and innovation among Nigerian students. According to a press statement signed by Eyinimi Omorozi, Managing Director and Project Consultant, the initiative is designed to enhance students' research skills and inspire them to develop competencies crucial for meaningful contributions to Nigeria's energy industry.

The competition will conclude with an award ceremony on October 22 at the NCDMB headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
