NCDMB, Renaissance begin oil and gas readiness training for 300 Nigerians

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, has initiated a specialized human capital development program designed to train 300 young Nigerians. This 12-month initiative focuses on equipping graduates with essential industry skills in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering, crucial for careers in the oil and gas sector.

The program, dubbed the NCDMB–Renaissance Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Programme, will combine three months of intensive classroom instruction with nine months of practical on-the-job training. Participants will gain hands-on experience with partner service companies, aiming to bridge existing skill gaps and prepare them for the demands of the industry.

This is more than the commencement of a training programme. It is the beginning of a journey for young Nigerians who will acquire world-class skills in mechanical, instrumentation and electrical disciplines.

Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of NCDMB, emphasized that the program aligns with the board's mission to build local capacity and deepen Nigerian participation in the energy sector. He highlighted that trainees will acquire globally recognized certifications and practical exposure, transforming them into potential innovators and future industry leaders. The initiative underscores the importance of specialized engineering skills for the safe and efficient exploitation of Nigeria's petroleum resources, especially as the industry attracts new investments.
