NDC condemns declaration of Egbetanah’s seat vacant, urges INEC to ignore assembly’s decision

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly criticized the Delta State House of Assembly for declaring the seat of Hon. Collins Egbetanah vacant. Egbetanah, who represents the Udu Constituency, recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the NDC.

In a statement released on Monday, the NDC's National Publicity Secretary voiced the party's disapproval of the assembly's action. The party views the declaration as an affront to democratic principles and an attempt to undermine the will of the constituents.

The NDC has formally urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ignore the Delta State House of Assembly's decision. The party insists that Egbetanah remains the legitimate representative for Udu Constituency and that any attempt to declare his seat vacant based on his party affiliation is unlawful. The NDC is calling for INEC to uphold electoral integrity and respect the political choices of elected officials.
