NDTV World to host India-Nepal dialogue in Kathmandu

NDTV World is launching a new global conversation series, "Anviksha: Ideas Across Borders," designed to build deeper understanding between nations by allowing them to articulate their own perspectives. The inaugural event, "The India-Nepal Dialogue," is scheduled for Thursday in Kathmandu.

The dialogue will convene political leaders, policymakers, diplomats, business leaders, strategic thinkers, and cultural figures from both Nepal and India. Kantipur Media Group will serve as the Nepal media partner, with Kantipur TV broadcasting the event to audiences in Nepal. NDTV stated the initiative seeks to move beyond familiar narratives by fostering conversations rooted in inquiry, reflection, and listening, drawing its name from the ancient Indian tradition of "anvīkṣikī," meaning the pursuit of understanding through reason and examination.

The series plans to travel across countries, focusing on each nation's history, identity, lived realities, and ambitions within broader geopolitical and economic contexts. This Nepal dialogue occurs as the country navigates significant political, economic, and social changes while defining its position in the evolving Asian and global landscape. Discussions will delve into Nepal's economic goals, entrepreneurial spirit, democratic progress, and the aspirations of its youth, alongside opportunities in technology, tourism, infrastructure, sustainability, trade, and regional cooperation.

Notable participants include Nepal's Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa, and Sumnima Udas, chair of the International Relations and Tourism Parliamentary Committee. India's Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava will also attend, alongside Indian parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor, India Foundation President Ram Madhav, BJP leaders Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and Vijai Chauthaiwale, and business representatives. Cultural figures like actor Manisha Koirala and actor-host Rajesh Hamal, along with former cricketer Paras Khadka, are also expected to join. NDTV World Editor Naveen Kapoor emphasized that the dialogue aims to understand countries through their own perspectives, priorities, and aspirations, especially as the world faces profound geopolitical and economic shifts.
