Negeri Sembilan election: 13,263 postal ballot papers issued

A total of 13,263 postal ballot papers have been issued for the Negeri Sembilan state election, according to the Election Commission (SPR).

These ballots are designated for eligible individuals voting by post, as stipulated under Regulation 3 of the Election (Postal Voting) Regulations 2003. The majority, 12,669 papers, are for election workers, SPR members, police and military personnel, and media representatives applying under Category 1A. An additional 343 papers are for Malaysian citizens residing abroad under Category 1B, and 251 are for agency officials in the security and health sectors under Category 1C.

Of that number, 12,669 postal ballot papers were issued to election workers, members and officers of the SPR, police personnel, military personnel, and media personnel who applied under Category 1A.

The issuance process involved representatives from all contesting parties or candidates. The SPR Secretary, Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus, emphasized that postal voters must correctly mark their ballots and complete the Identity Declaration Form (Form 2). These must be returned to the respective State Constituency Returning Officer before 5 p.m. on polling day, August 1.

Furthermore, voters are reminded to maintain the secrecy of their vote and refrain from taking photos of their postal ballots to share on social media.
