Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Gives Exco Choice to Jalaluddin Alias

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has indicated he will allow Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias to determine his own role within the state's executive council. Ismail Lasim, who officially commenced his duties as Menteri Besar on Sunday, stated that the decision rests with Jalaluddin Alias, who currently holds positions as the Member of Parliament for Jelebu and the State Assemblyman for Pertang.

Reports suggest that Jalaluddin Alias has chosen not to seek a position on the new executive council, preferring to leave opportunities open for other candidates. He reportedly views the appointment of Exco members as the prerogative of the Menteri Besar. Ismail Lasim expressed respect for this stance, emphasizing that he does not prioritize positions over leadership responsibilities.

"I am open-minded. I have been in politics for a long time. I am not power-hungry. Many tasks await to fulfill BN's manifesto, deliver promises to the people, and improve weaknesses," Ismail Lasim stated. He began his official duties as Menteri Besar on Monday, marking his arrival at his office by clocking in at 9 a.m.

The final list of state executive council members is anticipated to be confirmed by Friday or early next week, pending the approval of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, and agreement from the component parties of the new state government. Ismail Lasim also noted that the state government has not yet decided whether to appoint a Senior Exco member, despite provisions for such a role. The possibility of creating deputy Exco positions is being considered to strengthen the state government's administration.
