Negeri Sembilan Police Open Three More Bribery Cases in Election Probe

Police in Negeri Sembilan have initiated three additional investigation papers concerning bribery offenses during the recent state election campaign. These actions follow the receipt of 18 new police reports related to electoral misconduct.

According to Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, the three new investigation papers were opened under Section 11 of the Election Offences Act 1954. This brings the total number of investigation papers opened since the candidate nomination date on July 18 to 23. Cumulatively, the police have received 80 reports regarding election offenses in the state.

In addition to the bribery cases, another investigation paper was opened under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 11 of the Election Offences Act 1954, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. This case involves the dissemination of seditious content and election-related information via social media, which could potentially disrupt public order.

Datuk Alzafny Ahmad stated that the overall security and public order situation throughout the state election process has remained good and under control. The police are continuing to monitor the situation and investigate all reported offenses to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
