Negeri Sembilan polls: Anthony Loke to defend Chennah seat

DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook has confirmed his intention to contest and defend the Chennah state seat in the upcoming 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election. Loke stated that his decision has received full support from the state party leadership, positioning him to lead DAP's campaign efforts.

"I have made my decision and received support from the state secretary and committee to continue leading this election campaign by contesting in the Negeri Sembilan state election this time. I will definitely contest in the state election this time," Loke said during a press conference after a special meeting of the Negeri Sembilan DAP State Committee.

In the previous 15th Negeri Sembilan State Election, Loke, representing Pakatan Harapan (PH), won the Chennah seat with a majority of 2,200 votes. DAP Negeri Sembilan is targeting to retain all 11 seats previously won by the party. They also aim to assist their PH component partners in securing victories in other constituencies.

"We are targeting PH to win at least 20 seats in Negeri Sembilan, as achieved in the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018," Loke added. The PH Negeri Sembilan election machinery is scheduled to be launched by PH Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this Friday. The party's state secretary, Cha Kee Chin, has been appointed as the DAP Negeri Sembilan Election Director to coordinate campaign activities.
