Nepal Flood: 579 Tourists Among 826 Missing After Devastating Bhotekoshi River Flood

The Bhotekoshi River unleashed a devastating flood in Nepal's Rasuwa district on August 26, leaving a trail of destruction and a staggering number of missing persons. Government figures indicate that 826 people are unaccounted for, a grim toll that includes a significant number of tourists.

Among the missing are 579 tourists, comprising 113 Nepali nationals and 466 foreign visitors. The disaster also claimed the lives of 28 Nepal Police personnel, 44 Nepali Army personnel, and 13 Armed Police Force personnel. The confirmed death toll has reached 165, with an additional 73 individuals reported injured.

Authorities are currently engaged in extensive search and rescue operations across the flood-affected areas. The focus remains on locating those still missing amidst the challenging conditions.
