Nepal Flood Survivors Sought at Crowded Kathmandu Hospital

Kathmandu's Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital has become a hub of anxious activity as hundreds of people search for relatives missing since a devastating flood struck.

Authorities have set up special desks and are posting lists of survivors and the deceased. Families are poring over these records, some accompanied by photographs, desperately seeking any information about loved ones who have been out of contact since Wednesday.

The flood, which originated in the Bhotekoshi river system, caused widespread destruction across Rasuwa and other districts. It surged downstream, damaging settlements, roads, and bridges.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority reports that at least 826 people are still unaccounted for. This number includes Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force personnel, as well as a significant number of tourists, both foreign nationals and Nepalis. Search and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities work to compile a definitive casualty count and locate those still missing.
