Nepal government to collect flood damage details via local bodies

The Nepali government has decided to collect and update details of damage caused by recent floods in Rasuwa through the affected local governments. This decision was made during a meeting of a high-level management group involving the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

The ministries will work with respective local governments to gather information on damage to offices and other local-level infrastructure. Local governments are also tasked with mobilizing funds from their disaster management budgets and other available sources to support rescue and relief operations, adhering to existing regulations.

The Department of Survey will play a role in assessing damage to private and public land in the affected regions. They will also conduct disaster mapping to better understand the extent of the impact.

The unexpected flooding, which originated near the Nepal-China border, has affected several districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, and Nawalparasi, along the Bhotekoshi and other river basins.
