Nepal Floods and Landslides Cause Casualties; Taiwan Reports No Citizens Affected

Northern Nepal, bordering Tibet, was struck by severe floods and landslides on August 26, leading to significant casualties and a number of people reported missing. In response to the disaster, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on August 27, confirming that, as of that time, there were no reports of Taiwanese citizens being injured or stranded.

The ministry has instructed its representative office in India, which handles Nepal affairs, to maintain close contact with Taiwanese nationals and overseas communities in the affected region. The office is continuously monitoring the situation's development. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its representative office will persist in gathering information and ensuring the safety of Taiwanese citizens and residents in Nepal.

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is urging Taiwanese citizens who are planning to travel to Nepal or are currently in the country to stay informed about the local disaster situation. They are advised to avoid traveling to the affected areas and any other potentially high-risk zones. Maintaining regular contact with family and friends is also recommended.
