Nepal Home Minister Urges Caution in Five Districts Amid Flood Risk

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has issued an urgent public notice, advising residents in five districts to remain vigilant and prioritize safety amid rising flood risks. The warning comes as a significant volume of water from the Bhote Koshi River has entered downstream areas, posing a threat to communities along the riverbanks.

Avoid travel along the Prithvi Highway, Galchhi–Nuwakot–Rasuwа–Syafrubesi road and Muglin–Narayangadh road due to the impact of flooding in the Bhote Koshi River.

Travel along critical transportation routes, including the Prithvi Highway, the Galchhi–Nuwakot–Rasuwа–Syafrubesi road, and the Muglin–Narayangadh road, has been strongly discouraged. The minister emphasized that individuals living in close proximity to the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers, extending to Muglin, should stay on high alert until further notice.

Families residing in areas identified as high-risk within the districts of Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, and Nuwakot have been specifically urged to relocate to safer grounds. The notice also includes instructions for contacting authorities via the toll-free number 1234 in case of emergencies, with a clear directive for assistance with search and rescue operations or any other required support.
