PM Balen Shah orders emergency response as flood hits Rasuwa, Nuwakot

Prime Minister Balen Shah has directed an urgent response to severe flooding affecting the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts of Nepal. Security forces, including the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police, have been deployed for rescue and relief operations. Additional personnel are being moved from other districts to support the efforts. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority is coordinating the response, with medical teams, Nepal Scouts, and the Nepal Red Cross Society also mobilized. Additional ambulances and medical staff are being sent to the affected regions. Chief District Officers have been instructed to immediately relocate residents from downstream areas to safer locations, using SMS and phone calls to alert them and provide information on designated safe zones. All available helicopters, including those from private companies, have been placed on standby for potential rescue and relief missions. A high-level meeting is scheduled to discuss further measures as the situation evolves. The Prime Minister urged residents to stay in safe locations, avoid unnecessary movement, and await updates from authorities if unable to contact relatives.
