Nepal Police issue alert after lake bursts on Tibetan side

Nepal Police have issued an immediate alert following confirmation of a lake burst occurring in Tibetan territory. The incident, which happened near the upper tributaries of the Trishuli River system, has prompted authorities to urge all security personnel involved in rescue operations, as well as the general public, to exercise heightened vigilance.

Narendra Pariyar, Chief District Officer of Rasuwa, confirmed that information regarding the lake burst was received from the Chinese side. He stated that a circular has been disseminated, advising residents living along the riverbanks to take necessary safety precautions.

The affected lake was formed near the confluence of the Chochen Khola and Purepu Tsangpo rivers in China. The burst of this dammed lake poses a potential risk to areas downstream along the Trishuli River, necessitating the precautionary measures being taken by Nepalese authorities.
