Nepal Tourism Board Reports 187 Tourists Rescued or Accounted For After Rasuwa Floods

The Nepal Tourism Board has confirmed that 187 tourists have been either rescued or brought back into contact following devastating floods in the Rasuwa region. The board's latest update indicates that 184 individuals have been successfully rescued, while three others, previously out of contact, have now been accounted for.

Despite these efforts, a significant number of tourists, 420, remain unaccounted for. Many of these individuals were traveling to Kailash Mansarovar via the Rasuwagadhi border point when the floods struck on August 26. The rescue operations have prioritized reaching those stranded in the affected areas.

Among the rescued tourists, Indian nationals constitute the largest group, with 114 individuals confirmed safe. Other nationalities include 27 Chinese, 20 South Koreans, four Germans, four Maltese, three Americans, and three Italians. The diverse group highlights the international draw of the region for tourism.

While most major roads across Nepal have resumed operation, certain sections in the flood-affected districts are still impacted. The Tourism Board is urging all travelers to exercise caution, advising them to verify weather forecasts before embarking on journeys, particularly in areas recently hit by the floods. The board continues its monitoring efforts and will provide further updates as the situation evolves.
