Nepal tragedy: Family hopes missing Muhaimin will be found safe

Every day, Muhammad Muhaimin Azhad Noor Hadi’s family waits for news. The 27-year-old Malaysian lost contact while hiking in Nepal’s Langtang Valley, and his relatives continue to hope he will be found safe.

Seri Delima state assemblywoman Connie Tan said the family shared its situation during her visit to their home in Taman Tun Sardon, George Town. Muhaimin had been expected to return to Malaysia the previous Monday, but the family had still received no word about his whereabouts.

“I cannot imagine how heavy a family’s heart must be when it waits every day for news about its child. There is still hope. We hope the family will remain strong, and we will do our best to help,” Tan said.

Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh also joined the visit. He urged people to pray that Muhaimin and other Malaysians who remain unreachable are safe. He said the family’s situation had drawn attention because Muhaimin’s father has health problems and his mother had been deeply affected by the incident.

Ramkarpal contributed milk and other basic necessities and said his service centre would remain available to the family. Muhaimin, Muhammad Adib Haikal Awang Mansor, 27, and Muhammad Zaki Othman, 29, were all reported unreachable while hiking in the valley. They were believed to have been in the area when flash floods and landslides hit the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26.
