Néstor Gorosito leaves San Lorenzo less than two months after taking charge

Néstor “Pipo” Gorosito's second spell in charge of San Lorenzo lasted less than two months and ended after five defeats in his first eight matches. The club announced that the Argentine coach would leave by mutual agreement.

Walter Perazzo will take over on an interim basis while San Lorenzo works to appoint a new coach. The decision followed Monday's 1-0 defeat by Instituto, which left the club second-last in Group A of the Torneo Clausura with seven points from seven matches.

Gorosito took charge on July 3. His first match ended in a penalty shootout defeat by Deportivo Riestra, eliminating San Lorenzo from the Copa Argentina. The team then lost three of its next four matches, including the derby against Huracán.

San Lorenzo announces that Ne9stor Gorosito will no longer be coach of the first-division team. By mutual agreement, it was decided to end his contractual relationship with the club.

He became the fifth coach to leave San Lorenzo's bench in the past year. Gustavo Álvarez, the previous coach, took the job in March and resigned in late June after disagreements with the club's new leadership, which came to power following elections in late May.

San Lorenzo has also been dealing with debts linked to transfers, unpaid obligations, court restrictions and the removal of its former president following corruption allegations. The club had turned to Gorosito partly because supporters knew and liked him. He had played for San Lorenzo in three separate spells and also coached the team in 2024, without achieving strong results.
