Netanyahu Discusses Dismantling ICC with Rubio Ahead of Trump Meeting

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed on Sunday that he discussed efforts to dismantle the International Criminal Court (ICC) with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This conversation preceded Netanyahu's upcoming trip to Washington, where he is slated to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.

"Last night I spoke with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and he reiterated the United States' intention to act firmly against this organization (the ICC)," Netanyahu stated at the beginning of his Cabinet meeting, as reported by EFE news agency. Netanyahu asserted that the global court undermines justice worldwide and subjects nations to the "decisions of corrupt officials in The Hague." He also encouraged other countries to follow the U.S. initiative in opposing the ICC.

Netanyahu's visit to Washington, at the invitation of President Trump, includes attending Senator Lindsey Graham's funeral and holding discussions on "all agenda items, including the situation in Iran." This meeting marks the first face-to-face encounter between the two leaders since the U.S. and Iran escalated hostilities in late February, with Israel on high alert.

The Prime Minister also alluded to the recent dismissal of ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan, suggesting the move was intended to divert attention from Khan's alleged misconduct. Netanyahu implied that Khan issued arrest warrants against him and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes to shield himself and rally anti-Israel sentiment. "He did this to divert attention, to gather around him all those who hate Israel and, in essence, to create a protective shield for himself. That shield has opened and has also exposed his true motivation, and the injustice and deep corruption that exist not only in the Prosecutor's Office but in the entire International Criminal Court as a whole," Netanyahu declared.
