Netanyahu Welcomes ICC Prosecutor's Dismissal, Cites Political Bias

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed satisfaction with the recent dismissal of International Criminal Court (ICC) chief prosecutor Karim Khan, whom he accused of political bias. Netanyahu stated on X that the decision, supported by a majority of member states, was a "very positive development."

Netanyahu alleged that Khan pursued arrest warrants against him and former defense minister Yoav Gallant as a tactic to deflect from his own alleged transgressions. "The shield has now been torn away," Netanyahu wrote, adding that this revealed not only Khan's "true motivations" but also the "deep injustice and corruption" infecting the ICC prosecutor's office.

He further revealed a conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who reportedly reaffirmed America's resolve to take a firm stance against the ICC. Netanyahu characterized the court as an institution that undermines justice, attacks democratic and sovereign nations, and attempts to subject their security to the decisions of unaccountable and corrupt officials in The Hague.

The developments follow a vote by ICC member states to remove Khan, reportedly over allegations of misconduct. Following the vote, Venezuela's Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia announced his government's "irrevocable" decision to withdraw from the court, citing alleged "geographical bias" against nations in the Southern Hemisphere.
