Netball pathway a key goal for schools championship

The Crest Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Championship is actively working to build a stronger connection between school netball programs and the national team pathway. Josua Qalo, Vice President Administration for the Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Association, stated that a key objective is to foster a more robust development route for young athletes aiming to play for Fiji.

At the end of this competition, we hope to get positive remarks and help build a better network with Netball Fiji.

He emphasized that enhanced collaboration with the national federation is vital to ensure that promising players continue their involvement in netball after leaving secondary school.

"We want to ensure that we move into the pathway that they have and ensure that our girls stay in netball," he added. Qalo believes the championship is instrumental in identifying and nurturing the next generation of players who could potentially represent Fiji on the international stage. "We want them to pursue a career, maybe in the near future, with Netball Fiji."

The tournament is currently taking place at Jai Narayan College, gathering talented young netball players from across Fiji. The focus on developing a clear pathway aims to provide a sustainable future for the sport within the country, ensuring a consistent pipeline of talent for national representation.
