A magnitude 4.2 earthquake shook Colombia on the evening of Saturday, July 25, 2026. The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported the tremor occurred at 9:13 p.m. with a superficial depth of less than 30 kilometers.

The earthquake's epicenter was pinpointed 18 kilometers from Villanueva in the Casanare department, specifically at coordinates 4.73 latitude and -72.82 longitude. Nearby municipalities like Monterrey (19 kilometers away) and Barranca de Upía (24 kilometers away) were also close to the seismic event. Villanueva is situated approximately 225 kilometers from Bogotá.

Reports came from various parts of the country, with some individuals stating they felt the tremor and others claiming they did not. Residents in Casanare, including Yopal and Monterrey, confirmed feeling the quake, with one user describing it as a "strong jolt" in Monterrey. From the epicenter's vicinity, a resident noted it was "short" but caused "no major damage."
