New Audit Committees Tasked to Curb Financial Weaknesses in Northern Ghana

In a move to bolster financial integrity at the local government level, new Audit Committees have been inaugurated for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across five northern regions of Ghana.

These committees are specifically tasked with strengthening accountability, transparency, and the prudent management of public resources. Their establishment signals a renewed focus on ensuring that funds allocated to local governance are used effectively and responsibly.

Officials have urged the newly appointed members to actively promote sound financial governance. A key objective is to ensure that internal control systems within the MMDAs remain robust and effective, thereby preventing financial mismanagement and promoting public trust.
