New Boat Brings Hope and Safer School Commute to Fijian Village

Children in Saliadrau Village, Namosi, will now travel to school more safely and reliably thanks to a new boat handover. The vessel was provided under the Government’s Seafaring Entrepreneurial Assistance Programme, aiming to enhance educational access for students in remote areas.

Mitieli Cama, Permanent Secretary for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, presented the boat. This initiative directly addresses the challenges faced by students who previously had a less secure way of reaching their educational institutions. The program supports entrepreneurial activities related to seafaring, with a focus on community benefit.

The new boat represents a significant improvement in daily life for the Saliadrau community, particularly its younger members. It signifies the government's commitment to improving infrastructure and support systems for rural and maritime populations, ensuring that essential services like education are accessible.
