New campsite 'Redup Rindu' attracts tourists in Kampar

Harmaniazira Ishak, a 39-year-old local woman, has established the Redup Rindu Campsite (RRC) in Kampar, Malaysia, transforming a 0.60-hectare plot into a popular destination since its 2024 opening.

I am an Angkatan Pertahanan Awam (APM) volunteer and have three children aged 16 to six years. I want to utilize this 0.60 hectare area as a campsite that attracts local and international tourists.

Driven by a passion for natural beauty and the unique charm of Kampung Sahom, Ishak, also an Angkatan Pertahanan Awam (APM) volunteer and mother of three, envisioned RRC as a hub for local and international tourists. The campsite has already hosted numerous groups, including university students, private companies, and NGOs, with some even holding significant life events like weddings and engagements there.

Thank God since it opened in 2024, several local universities, private companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and even some have held wedding, engagement and akikah ceremonies here because it is comfortable and can accommodate up to 400 people at a time.

RRC can accommodate up to 400 people at a time, offering a comfortable and scenic retreat. The campsite generates a gross monthly income of RM2,500 to RM3,500, a significant portion of which is reinvested into enhancing facilities. Ishak prioritizes using quality second-hand items to manage costs while ensuring durability, focusing on improvements like separate ablution facilities for men and women, upgraded bathrooms, water tanks, and electrical outlets.

I did not take any loans to ensure the continuity of RRC's operations. Instead, the income is used for operational costs such as adding ablution facilities for men and women, bathrooms, toilets, water tanks, sinks and electrical outlets.

Beyond its commercial success, RRC plays a vital role in the local community. Ishak provides employment opportunities for the Orang Asli and villagers, offering catering services for events and employing them for groundskeeping and cleaning. This initiative allows residents to earn supplementary income while maintaining their primary jobs. The campsite is supported by local authorities, including the Kampar District and Land Office and the Kampar District Council, who assist with public facilities and promotion.

Like symbiosis, I also open job opportunities for the Orang Asli around this area and village residents including in catering services for guests who come for overnight programs, grass cutting and cleaning the area.
